Rosario Robert, a bold, determined entrepreneur founded the family business in 1946. His ability to adapt to his customers’ needs earned him their loyalty and enabled him to build credibility in a strongly regulated industry.
Robert Bernard, a well-known businessman, became a partner in the company in 1962. After Rosario Robert’s sudden death two years later, his wife Réjeanne took over the business.
In 1973 the company moved into a second generation of management when Claude Robert, a young chartered accountant, and Gérard Bernard, in business administration, joined forces to lead the family business to further growth.
In the 1980s the North American trucking industry was rocked by deregulation; Claude Robert, the company’s innovative and visionary leader, positioned the company as a leading provider of supply chain logistics services.
By investing in state-of-the-art technology, he enabled the company to distance itself from the competition by providing customers with value-added services to meet market expectations.
Today, Claude Robert faces the challenge of preparing the family business’s future. The Robert family holds 62.5 % of the company shares and Fonds de Solidarité des Travailleurs du Québec, 37.5 %.
The older generation is now sharing its know-how and the company’s traditional values with the next generation. Michel, Julie, Isabelle and their colleagues will continue to foster the company’s dedication to customer service and respect for its employees, as well as continued growth for the shareholders. Together, these values will ensure the Robert Group ongoing prosperity.
